Who we are...

We, the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco, were founded in 1872 in Mornese, Italy by St. John Bosco and St. Mary Mazzarello. From the beginning our Congregation, whose formal name is the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, wholeheartedly devoted itself to the care of the young and the poor. More than just a mere teachers, our apostolate extends itself beyond the classroom and into the very heart of youth culture, by making ourselves available to the young wherever they may be found.

To be a Daughter of Mary Help of Christians is a call to imitate Mary, to whom Don Bosco said he wished our Institute to be a living monument. As such our spirituality is essentially Eucharistic and Marian; a blend of the contemplative and the active. In fact, we are contemplatives in action in every sense of the word. With over 14,000 members worldwide, we are one of the largest and fastest growing groups of women religious. Loyal to the Holy Father, and working hand-in-hand with the local community, we share with others the Salesian family spirit, a trademark gift of Salesianity.

We invite you now to learn more about us.

Who knows, perhaps God may be calling you to be a Daughter of Mary Help of Christians!
